Captain’s Update

Dear Golf Club Members and Owners,

Well, it has been a very long and hot summer so far and it is not quite August as I write this… It has also been a very sad time for us all. I must admit that I have found it difficult to get myself motivated to do my Captaincy bits, but I know that you will all help me, so here goes…

The Captain’s Charity Day is all set for Saturday 4th October

Entry forms are available from Golf Reception and online, but you do need to pay as you enter and choose your food. I will also put a copy on the Forum.

Usual format, teams of four, Texas Scramble (medal) and a shotgun start at 10am.

Tees can be purchased nearer the time, and I will let you know more. Mulligans can also be purchased over breakfast, which will be at the Clubhouse from 8am (bacon rolls, croissant, Cava, juice and coffee).

Last date for entries is early because of the dinner, so midday on Sunday 28th September. I will send out reminders! (Max. table size will be 10)

Please send me a WhatsApp on (00 34) 711 015 396 if you know that you will be playing or hosting a non-playing table just so that I can gauge numbers.

After dinner on the day there will be a raffle, but also an auction. So, if you have anything which we could auction to raise funds for AMCAL please let me know. Or if you have any ideas about businesses or individuals that I might approach then do let me know your thoughts.

“Gail’s Disco” will be up and running following dinner and the auction. I think it will be great fun and not to be missed!!

The Charity Day and the whole weekend will be busy… Surprisingly! There will be the usual Social Roll Up on the Friday before the Charity Day on Saturday. (Go steady on the 2 for 1s!)

On Sunday we will have the Springers Spectacular Captains’ Charity Rock and Roast (their fee kindly donated by the band to my charity) There will be a quiz night on the Monday following Charity Day (6th October) with card bingo too.

Colin (Hendy) and I have been working on a new format calendar which I think you will love. He is very kind to personally cover all the production costs in order that all sale proceeds go to AMCAL. Thank you.

Chris Mear will be running the popular Last Man Standing competition once the Premier league matches start, very soon! (“Bit too soon”, do I hear you ladies say?) Watch out for more information.

There will be a Beautiful Baby competition, a Ryder Cup Sweep and some other fund-raising activities too over the winter months leading up to Christmas, including a Xmas Quiz with carols. The New Year will see some more competitions and fun events including the St Valentine’s Day Massacre (!)

Any other fund-raising suggestions or assistance gratefully accepted. Thank you for your support.

Saludos
